·         Be aware of current popular approaches enabling an organization to optimize their new product development efforts

·         Learn a set of  nomenclature

·         Become familiar with various organizational structures to support the process

·         How to achieve the best overall solution versus a functional “right” solution

·         There is not one single right way that works for all new product development efforts and/or all organizations.

·         Produce a well thought-out written and oral analysis

Chapters 2-5; Laying the foundation for effective new product development efforts

·         8-Organizing development projects.  Four contrasting approaches to project organization

·         10-Effective management of prototyping, the design-build-test cycle
